Student Internships
Interested in becoming an intern for our summer camps? Great! Remember that you are applying for a leadership position with PDC. This is a volunteer position. Student interns will assist paid staff in all camp activities. Interns will attend a camp planning session with staff before camp begins. The deadline to submit intern forms is January 19. Please be sure a parent knows you are applying and for what dates - their email address is required on the form.
Here’s what is required as an intern:
You must:
-be entering 7th - 12th gr (depending on the camp)
-have a positive attitude and act as an encouraging cheerleader for our campers.
-have been in several shows with Caroline previously- preferably at least one summer camp.
-be someone who can set a good example for younger students
-be eager to help wherever is needed.
-be willing to sing all of the songs with the kids, facilitate games and -if you are a skilled dancer- you may be asked to dance captain.
-be willing to work the non-glamorous side of our shows (arriving early for set up -ugh those tents-, stay for strike + manage backstage madness: costume quick changes, set and prop moving, kid wrangling). It is not always fun, but it is rewarding!
You will be expected to attend camp Mon - Fri 8:15 - 3:45 to the best of your ability (some adjustments and planned absences are definitely ok with advance notice from your parents so don’t hesitate to apply if you have some conflicts).
Working the dress, tech and shows and staying for strike is mandatory. On our final day you can plan on staying about 3 hours after show time as we need to clean up one show and plan for the next! If you work the final camp you will help us clean up summer!
Please note we have a limited number of spaces so it is possible that not everyone who applies will be able to be an intern this summer. You will most likely only be placed in one camp, but feel free to apply for as many as you want! I love the enthusiasm!

camper hours are 8:30 - 3:30 - intern hours are 8:15 - 3:45 (except for some our one week camps; see below)
June 14 - 18: one week camp; campers in grades 1st - 5th (interns entering grades 7 - 12) Peter Pan - a play with music for young actors Prepare to learn all the lines, music and put on a lot of band-aids; ONE SHOW Friday around 4pm) This camp is at St David of Wales
June 14 - 26: campers in grades 3rd - 6th (interns entering grades 7 - 12) The Little Mermaid Kids
(interns for this camp must attend both weeks; It’s a lot of work. Prepare to learn all the music and put on a lot of band-aids; TWO shows Friday 6pm and Saturday 10am) This camp is at Imago Theatre
June 21 - 25: one week camp; campers in grades K - 3 with performing interns (interns entering 7th - 12th - very capable, quick learners who have been interns before and able to lead PDC musicals in the past preferred for this one. The Little Mermaid Kids; The INTERNS PERFORM MANY OF THE ROLES STILL TBD. CAROLINE WILL CAST 6 - 7 EXPERIENCED INTERN ACTORS) The students leave at 2pm (M- Th)- interns stay to rehearse from 2 - 3:45 every day. ONE SHOW Friday June 25 - afternoon 4pm TBD? This camp is at Imago Theatre
June 28 - July 10: campers in grades 6th - 9th (interns entering grades 8 - 12) The Little Mermaid Jr
(interns for this camp will attend the 2ND WEEK ONLY July 5 - 10; TWO shows Friday 6pm and Saturday 11am) This camp is at Imago Theatre
July 5 - 9: one week camp; campers in grades K - 2 (interns entering 7th - 12th); Pirates and Mermaids! - this camp is devised by Mick and will have a short performance “show me” at the end of the week; prepare to play a lot, apply a lot of bandaids, accompany kids on bathroom breaks and playground breaks, read a lot of books, do crafts and be silly. Interns may be asked to be on stage but that is TBD. this camp is at St David of Wales and goes to 2pm.
July 12 - 24: two week camp; campers in gr 2nd - 5th (interns entering gr 7-12) How I Became a Pirate
(interns for this camp will attend both weeks and help the staff in whatever needs to be done. Interns are expected to help backstage for show time and may be asked to sing the music. TWO shows Friday 6pm and Saturday 10am) The camp is at St David of Wales.
July 26 - August 7: two week camp; campers in gr 1 - 7 (interns entering 7th - 12th gr) The Magic Treehouse Pirates Past Noon (interns for this camp must attend both weeks; the 1st week is just 3rd - 7th and the 2nd week we add 1st and 2nd graders- interns will teach the music to the young ones; prepare to read books, apply bandaids, make crafts iun addition to learning the show), TWO shows Friday 6pm and Saturday 10 am). Interns for this camp will help pack up camp at St D’s for the summer. This camp takes places at St David of Wales
August 2 - 14: two week advanced camp; campers in grades 6 - 9th; interns gr 9 - 12 Mean Girls Jr
(interns for this camp will attend the 2nd week only August 9 - 14; TWO shows Friday 6pm and Saturday 11am)
