SHAKESPEARE’S REVOLTING CHILDREN
exploring the rebellious, emotional, fiery young people of shakepseare’s plays
Who: rising 9th - 12th graders who are genuinely interested in joining Caroline to learn more about acting and the human condition through Shakespeare’s relatable young people. This camp is recommended for kids who already have some acting experience.
We must have at least 8 kids in this camp for it to continue (limited to 24)
What: a one-week advanced acting camp culminating in a Scene Night for an audience.
Through acting, theater exercises, and scene study we will explore Shakespeare’s young lovers and fighters.
After more than 400 years, Shakespeare’s characters’ convictions, desires, and inner turmoil are still relatable.
Focusing on the youngest of his characters, teens will be encouraged to interpret and make these characters personal to them. Students will decide what their portrayal of their character would wear and what timeframe they want to set their scenes in. Possible scenes and characters from: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, A Winter’s Tale, Cymbeline, King Lear, Twelfth Night, Henry IV
Where: St David of Wales; sharing the space with the final musical camp of the summer, we will be in the grace room, the classroom and sometimes the parish hall on the stage.
